Carvalho’s Dying Minute Goal Keeps Chelsea from Top of the Premier League Table

Brentford Holds Chelsea to a 2-2 Draw

This was not the kind of game anybody could predict easily because both teams had their moments and both teams had their chances.

At the end, it finished 2-2 and even though Chelsea will feel they could have won it, Brentford will look at it like a point they worked hard to collect.

There was fight, there was comeback, and there were goals that came when it looked like the game was done.

It started with Brentford looking invincible and they were finely rewarded when Schade slotted the ball past Tosin and Sanchez.

But the second half opened up everything.

Chelsea were behind and then came back into the game with power and pressure and it looked like they were going to walk away with the win.

But football is not like that, especially not with Brentford who always find a way to bite back when you think they’re finished.

Brentford were leading but the game turned at minute 61 when Chelsea found their equaliser.

Pedro headed the ball down for Cole Palmer and Palmer hit it with one-time volley straight into the corner.

It was the goal that woke Chelsea up and told Brentford they were in for a tough second half.

From that moment, Chelsea were controlling things more and Brentford started struggling to stop the attacks.

You could feel another goal was coming and it didn’t take long before it happened.

That Palmer goal made the score 1-1 and Chelsea started believing they could complete the comeback.

By the time it got to 85 minutes, Chelsea were leading and it was Moisés Caicedo who fired the second goal.

Garnacho crossed the ball, it almost reached Palmer but instead it fell to Caicedo who smashed it into the top corner.

It was one of those finishes that the keeper had no chance.

2-1 Chelsea and it looked like it was over.

Then came 90+3.

A throw-in, a flick, and suddenly Fábio Carvalho was free at the far post.

He finished it clean and equalised just when Chelsea thought they had won.

Brentford made it 2-2 with that goal and even though it went to VAR for a check, the goal stood..

It was heartbreak for Chelsea but a huge relief for Brentford.

There was still one last chance and it fell to Palmer again.

Garnacho got to the byline and cut it back for him and it was almost a perfect ending.

But Palmer couldn’t keep his shot down and fired it over the bar.

That was the last real kick of the game.

Chelsea almost stole it again but instead they walked away with just one point.

Palmer will be disappointed but Brentford will feel proud.
