Chelsea erstwhile striker Nicolas Jackson completed a loan move to Bayern Munich on transfer deadline day 2025. The deal almost suffered a breakdown when Jackson, who flew to Munich to sign his contract, was called back due to Delap’s injury during Chelsea’s win over Fulham in Matchday 3.
Jackson and his agent were adamant and wanted to join the German Champions by all means. The saving grace was Sunderland offered to let Marc Guiu go back to the London side which allowed Nicolas Jackson to stay on course.
But that was only after some renegotiations.
The originally agreed loan fee was €15 million.
However, after the renegotiations, the loan fee was upgraded to €16.5 million which looked like Chelsea simply used the Delap situation and Jackson’s desperations to maintain an upperhand in the negotiations.
In a recent interview with Sport1 Dota, Former Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeneß made a shocking revelation.
According to Hoeneß, “The player and his agent contribute for €3 million, so we pay €13.5 million loan fee.”
Essentially, Bayern aren’t even paying the original loan fee that was discussed let alone the upgraded fee negotiated by Chelsea.
This makes one wonder how desperate Jackson was to leave Chelsea. In a more shocking admission, Hoeneß said “There wil definitely not be a permanent contract. That only happens if he plays 40 games from the start, it will never happen.”
The buy option clause for Jackson to Bayern Munich required that the Senegalese starts 40 matches for Munich and that is going to seem impossible especially with a player the profile of Harry Kane.
