The craziest sage of the Summer Transfer window has been between Newcastle and Liverpool over Swedish striker Alexander Isak. The 26 year old has desired a move to Merseyside but Newcastle wanted to keep to sell him only if they could find a replacement for him. But for 130 million euros and the first done deal on Deadline Day, Isak can be considered a Liverpool player.

When Liverpool made their intentions known about desiring Isak to lead their frontline with the departure of Nunez, Newcastle were determined to cash out big from the deal and said they’d let Isak go provided Liverpool submitted a huge bid for the striker and if they got a replacement for him.

Ekitike was named as Isak’s replacement and Newcastle were negotiating with the French striker as the deal with Liverpool and Isak was progressing. In a surprise turn of events, Liverpool signed Ekitike and still submitted a £120 million pounds bid for Isak. They got his replacement and wanted the main man as well.

Newcastle opined that they only agreed to sell Isak provided they could get a replacement for him but their hopes of signing someone of Ekitike’s quality had been snatched. The club mentioned Benjamin Sesko as their next target but Manchester United, despite submitting a lower financial incentive, got the Slovenian to sign.

As the days progressed, it was clear Newcastle was blocking Isak’s move to Liverpool stating “conditions needed to be met” as the reason for their refusal to budge and sell the Swede.

But with the signing of Stuggart’s Nick Woltemade, it seemed clear that the path for Isak out of Newcastle was clear and today, September 1st, Newcastle is ready to accept the improved £130 million bid for Isak.
